Role Purpose
The Dispensary Shift Lead provides direct supervisory oversight of retail operations during assigned shifts and serves as the primary on-site compliance authority in the absence of upper management.
Regulatory & Operational Responsibilities
- Supervise Budtenders and Receptionists during assigned shifts
- Ensure all retail activities are conducted in compliance with CCC regulations, license conditions, and SOPs
- Oversee opening and closing procedures, including vault access, cash controls, alarm systems, and required documentation
- Monitor POS activity for transaction accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Ensure proper ID verification, customer flow, and security enforcement
- Maintain and review visitor logs and restricted-area access records
- Identify, document, and escalate compliance, safety, or security incidents
- Serve as the primary point of contact for incident response until management is notified
Employee Limited Access
- Authorized to access all limited access areas within the licensed premises as necessary to perform their job duties.
- These positions are not subject to area-specific access restrictions and may enter all operational, storage, inventory, vault, and security-controlled areas in accordance with company policy and Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) regulations.
Compliance & Oversight
- Reinforce SOP adherence among staff during shifts
- Assist with staff training and corrective action as directed by management
- Support audits, inspections, and internal compliance reviews
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Supervisory experience in retail or regulated environments preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required state registrations
